Puppy Training
Training
If you are interested in training for your new puppy, here are a couple great resources.
Raising the Empowered Puppy by Jeanette Forrey at 4E Kennels is an excellent resource to start your new puppy of right! This will continue the initial work we began at Harvest Creek and it will give you four week step by step training plan. If you get a copy of Raising the Empowered Puppy before your new puppy comes home, you can take advantage of the preparation plans in the book that will help you be as prepared as possible for your new puppy to come home.
The K9 Training Institute is another great option. They offer a free workshop that will help you get off to a great start with your new puppy. It's completely online, but a unique dog training experience.
We have been in formal dog training classes with puppies through local facilities and while they are helpful for some basic obedience training, it's not always helpful for things like house training. The K9 Training Institute helps teach you from a canine behaviorist perspective and using service dog training techniques so that you have the best puppy on the block!
We suggest trying out the free workshop and even getting started before your new puppy comes home. That will give you an amazing jump start on training! If you want to continue training with the K9 Training Institute, the next step after the free workshop is their master class. Just saying "master class" sounds time consuming! But it's not! They will teach you how to do training for 10-15 minutes a day and you will see seriously impressive results from your dog.
You can find more information on puppy training in the Harvest Creek Blog as well.
